For most of his working life, Cliff Jones has been involved with the Travel Industry both as a travel agent and a specialist tour operator, and for over 35 years has been a professional safari guide in the game parks of Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
He is a radio broadcaster working with the BBC and has worked closely with the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC World Service and was co-presenter on "Wildlife on Five" on BBC Radio 5.
Cliff has travelled extensively, having visited 127 countries of the world. He is an accomplished photographer - presenting countless lectures about his travels to a wide audience - and has had many articles published in newspapers and magazines. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Member of the Institute of Travel & Tourism he is widely respected in many circles.
He is a regular lecturer on cruise ships during which he has led many whale and birdwatching sessions.
An ardent conservationist and proponent of eco tourism (or, as he would prefer to describe it, 'sensitive tourism') he has addressed many assemblies on this issue including the environmentalists in the Euopean Parliament. (In plenary session) on the dangers of Global Warming to both humans and wildlife.
Cliff is a former Chairman of the Association of British Travel Agents and past President of the European Union of Travel and Tour Operators.
Writer for many travel and media publications, his passion for wildlife is matched only by his love of steam locomotives which stems from his childhood. The son of a Welsh engine driver - he has sought out working and derelict British built locomotives all over the world.
